It has been a great week and I got to have some refreshing time out of town the last couple of days. I got home to a bit of rainy weather, and I just wanted to share a couple photos from this afternoon. What a week! It seems like this entire week I have been almost on a roller coaster. Last week I posted a link to the "Don't Box Us In" article, and this week I was constantly challenged by my own words. As I wrote the interview last week, I was asked why I wake up every morning and do what I do. This week my words came back to remind me that at the end of the day I do this because I love this. I was recently asked by some good friends of mine over at "Don't Box Us In" (aka DBUI) to do an interview on their site and I was absolutely flattered. DBUI is an awesome source for photographers to think "outside of the box" and get some inspiration. The interview went live on their site today and I am super excited about having the opportunity. Yesterday I had a chance to hear Harry Benson speak at Tulane in New Orleans and it was truly inspiring. He has photographed every president since Eisenhower, was with Robert Kennedy when he was shot, and even followed the Beatles for their first US tour! It was so nice to hear a photographer who had so much life experience and was so humble. The biggest thing that I took from the event was something that he said, "I try to photograph people as they are and not as I see them." (hopefully that is pretty close). I have a really good friend in Baton Rouge that owns a clothing company and over coffee a couple months back we talked about scheduling a photoshoot. Well... this past Friday we were finally able to make it happen. Jamie, Ben, & I headed over and had a blast with them and all of the models. Here are just a couple... A couple shots from catching up with friends over the last couple weeks
So first off let me say that I am really excited about this post... You might seen a couple "fine art" images that I posted a while back from a trip that Ben & I took just photographing for fun. Well... this has turned into a full blown project called "Parish to Parish." The whole idea behind the project is to artistically portray every parish in the state of Louisiana. Last week seemed to fly by quicker than most, but I did want to post a couple photos of two small things that brought a little excitement to my week. The first is a new little personalized product that I just got which is a Jason Cohen Photography iPod shuffle... It is a regular 1GB iPod shuffle with my logo on the front and my website on the back. I had been wanting something really personalized a while back and I was so excited to get it (see pics below and let me know what you think)!

So the last couple of days at the office have really been crazy. Jamie had a shoot for The Color Bar, which consisted of 15 of their hair stylists in the office and I had a shoot for a real estate client today. Needless to say, things have been almost a blur with lots of flashes going off and lots of people coming in and out (I promise there is a point in all of this). So I was talking to Jamie today and saying how it would be fun since we have all of the lighting setup to get random people to take a really quick shot.... So here is your chance.....
Tomorrow (Wednesday February 20th) I, Jamie, or Ben will be in the office shooting from 7:30-3 (I have a bridal then or else I would leave it open until 5). Ben and I hung out today and photographed his uncle's dogs. His uncle is currently in Shreveport waiting on a liver transplant and Ben wanted to be able to send him a print to cheer him up. Yesterday I got a text message that said, "Can you be at Great Harvest Bread Co. in 1 hour?" My first thought was that this must be some type of covert operation going on so I figured it would go over. As it turns out James blindfolded Monica and drove an hour (from Baton Rouge) to get some bread from Great Harvest as a birthday surprise. It was really good to see them and here are just a couple shots from yesterday... Happy Birthday Monica!!! Blessings. Jason

So this was quite possibly the most interesting thing I had ever laid my eyes on. The guy who was next to it had to show off his homemade margarita mixer, which consisted of two coolers, lots of glue, and a garbage disposal!
