Parish to Parish is Live!

So first off let me say that I am really excited about this post... You might seen a couple "fine art" images that I posted a while back from a trip that Ben & I took just photographing for fun. Well... this has turned into a full blown project called "Parish to Parish." The whole idea behind the project is to artistically portray every parish in the state of Louisiana. Below is a screen shot of the website which you can visit at http://www.parishtoparish.com Prints are available for sale through the site and our first showing will actually begin tomorrow (Sunday, March 8th) at CC's coffeehouse on Kaliste Saloom Rd.

Please check by the site often for our latest work and let us know what you think.

Blessings. Jason

Its the little things in life...

Last week seemed to fly by quicker than most, but I did want to post a couple photos of two small things that brought a little excitement to my week. The first is a new little personalized product that I just got which is a Jason Cohen Photography iPod shuffle... It is a regular 1GB iPod shuffle with my logo on the front and my website on the back. I had been wanting something really personalized a while back and I was so excited to get it (see pics below and let me know what you think)!

Also Ben turned me on to Narwhal Co. who makes accessories out of recycled ties. I picked up this awesome wallet which I am loving. You can check them out and get one for yourself at http://narwhalcompany.com/

"How" Magazine - We won!

So I got a phone call on Thursday morning with Genevieve (the creative director for Blue Cross and good friend) with her screaming violenetly to me on the phone "Oh my Gosh!" After finally getting her to calm down he informed me that "How" Magazine had chosen the annual report that we made (she designed & I photographed) as one of 12 picked in for an award in their annual international contest! My first reaction was that maybe she saw the wrong name, but luckily we had just gotten our issue in at the office. This was actually a goal for Gen (congratulations) and was a total honor for me to be a part of. It was such an awesome project and such a blessing to be be involved. We had a blast on Thursday night in Baton Rouge celebrating, and it was great to see Gen on cloud nine. You can pick up a copy at your local Barnes & Noble and here are a couple shots of the magazine. Blessings. Jason

I had everyone sign it who was involved in the project...

Come by the office today (Wednesday)!

So the last couple of days at the office have really been crazy. Jamie had a shoot for The Color Bar, which consisted of 15 of their hair stylists in the office and I had a shoot for a real estate client today. Needless to say, things have been almost a blur with lots of flashes going off and lots of people coming in and out (I promise there is a point in all of this). So I was talking to Jamie today and saying how it would be fun since we have all of the lighting setup to get random people to take a really quick shot.... So here is your chance.....

Tomorrow (Wednesday February 20th) I, Jamie, or Ben will be in the office shooting from 7:30-3 (I have a bridal then or else I would leave it open until 5). I would love for you to come by and take a quick headshot, body shot, or whatever you would like shot :) Feel free to call me at the office at 337.234.0910 or send me an email through the contact page, just I know that you are coming. The address to the office can be found no my contact page and feel free to call me if you have any questions.

Just a quick note... Anyone is more than welcome to come by. You can be a customer, friend of a past bride, photographer, or just someone who stumbled across my blog. This is merely a chance to have fun and for me to experiment a little bit with shooting something that was not completely planned. I know this seems somewhat random, but if you know me you shouldn't be too surprised :) I will ask that everyone signs a model release, just so I can post them on my blog.

Thanks in advance, and I hope that you come by tomorrow, or at least tell someone to come by!

Blessings. Jason

So here is a couple shots of me... I got some good news today... which I will will post about later, but to make a long story short I photographed an annual report that won an international award in this months "How" magazine. More to come soon....

Email Down :(

Yet again I realized today that my spam content in my inbox had been a little low since over the weekend and it occurred to me that my email was not working. So, if you sent me an email late last week or over the weekend please drop me a line via my contact page or give me a call. Hope you had a great weekend! Blessings. Jason

Pups...

Ben and I hung out today and photographed his uncle's dogs. His uncle is currently in Shreveport waiting on a liver transplant and Ben wanted to be able to send him a print to cheer him up. Hopefully these will provide a little sunshine to his day. Here are a couple below and keep his uncle Bill in your prayers :) Blessings. Jason

Mona's Birthday!

Yesterday I got a text message that said, "Can you be at Great Harvest Bread Co. in 1 hour?" My first thought was that this must be some type of covert operation going on so I figured it would go over. As it turns out James blindfolded Monica and drove an hour (from Baton Rouge) to get some bread from Great Harvest as a birthday surprise. It was really good to see them and here are just a couple shots from yesterday... Happy Birthday Monica!!! Blessings. Jason

Mardi Gras!

I had the chance to take a little break this past week and hang out for the day with some good friends who just happen to live right off the parade route. I took out the Leica just to snap a couple random shots from the day and here are just a couple.. Blessings. Jason

Talk about pimp my ride!

l1000118.jpg

So this was quite possibly the most interesting thing I had ever laid my eyes on. The guy who was next to it had to show off his homemade margarita mixer, which consisted of two coolers, lots of glue, and a garbage disposal!

Email down :(

So I woke up this email and realized that my email/website/blog were all down :( I just wanted to write a quick post in case you have tried to email me in the last couple of days to please resend or give me a call if you need anything. Everything should be back up for good without any further problems, but I just wanted to post a little note just in case.... Blessings. Jason

PS... On a better note... I have some great photos that I am going to try and post later from a seesion that I had with some really good friends of mine, Bebe & Corine Tran, in New Orleans yesterday :)

Camping!

So one of my passions that I don't get to do very often is go backpacking and I had the opportunity this past weekend to join a couple friends and get out of town for a couple days. I can't remember the last time I took some time off and it was so nice to relax. The last morning we were there it actually got down to 23 degrees. Thank God for a good sleeping bag! Here are just a couple from the trip! Blessings. Jason

These first couple shots were actually all reflection shots... The water in the creek was so still

Pack and Paddle and "Tha Wookie"

So my good friends at Pack and Paddle were having a grand opening of their new "room" this past Saturday and I brought my camera along to catch some of the action. If you have not seen the new room, you have to go by and check it out.... They are going to have speakers coming through along with other events, which you can check for updates at Pack & Paddle ...... Anyways they had Nate Olive, aka. "Tha Wookie", come and talk about his hike from Canada to Mexico (all on foot!). You can read more about him and also about the cool thing he is doing called "Trekking for Children" at thawookie.com
Anyways, I thought I would share a couple images and here they are...

Blessings.Jason

I am a godfather!

Our good friends had Lydia Florea Deroche last week and we swung by to say hi to our new godchild (and of course for me to snap a couple pics). She is SOOOO beautiful, even thought I have somewhat of an aversion to small children (I always think I am going to drop them). Anyways, congratulations to Kyle and Sarah on the new beautiful addition to their family.

Blessings.
Jason

Email woes.....

So... I realized on Saturday that I had not received any junk mail in almost a week (usually it seems like 10 an hour), and then realized it was not only junk mail I was not receiving, but ALL mail! So, if you just happened to email me within the last week please resend it so I can make sure to get it.

Blessings.

Corey McNabb + Aston Martin = Hotlanta

I recently attended a workshop put on by Lacour Photographers out of Atlanta and got to hang out with some of the coolest and most talented photographers on the planet! On the last night of the workshop we came back to the hotel from dinner and there was an Aston Martin parked out front. Corey told me that this was always his dream car and got me to snap a couple with his point-and-shoot digital camera. After looking at the sub-par images from the point-and-shoot, I told him to wait right there and ran up to my room to grab a camera and some flashes. Below are just a couple from the shoot.

Blessings.
